Plaintiff brought suit upon a written assignment of funds due or to become due to a general contractor engaged in the performance of public work. The action was converted into one in the nature of interpleader by the answer and cross-complaint of the municipality holding the funds and its contemporaneous payment of the amount of money then earned by the contractor into court. A bonding company and the assignee of certain lien claimants intervened in the action and claimed the entire funds.
