Plaintiff, Adren Lopez, formerly a prisoner in the Southport Correctional Facility, filed this action pro se seeking relief under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, claiming that his constitutional rights were violated by the defendants’ alleged excessive use of force. Defendants moved for summary judgment, arguing that plaintiff had failed to state a claim for any constitutional deprivation and that the defendants were entitled to qualified immunity.
