The accused pleaded guilty to a violation of paragraph 19, Article 8, Articles for the Government of the Navy, which made it an offense to be absent after the leave period had expired. The summary court-martial (now special court-martial) which accepted the plea was duly appointed on May. 11, 1951, pursuant to the provisions of the Articles for the Government of the Navy.
