BOGGS, Circuit Judge.
The federal Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) sued the Glidden Co. in personam and certain land owned by various members of the Bohaty family in rem under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), 42 U.S.C. § 9601 et seq., in connection with costs incurred in removing toxic wastes found on the land.
