STRUBHAR, Vice Presiding Judge:

¶ 1 Curtis Lee Washington, hereinafter Appellant, was tried by jury and convicted of Murder in the first degree (21 O.S.1991, § 701.7(A)), in the District Court of Oklahoma County, Case No. CF-96-1023, the Honorable Leamon Freeman, District Judge, presiding. The jury recommended death after finding the murder was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel,1 and the trial court sentenced Appellant accordingly.
