These actions were instituted by the appellee on two policies of insurance issued by the appellants respectively, to recover for a loss resulting from the destruction by fire of the well known buildings called “ Barn urn’s Museum,” on Broadway, New York. They were insured in the names of Benjamin E. Beekman and Gilbert T. The insurance companies in these cases, which have been brought up in the same record and argued together, insist that they are not respsonsible for the loss occasioned by the fire, because, as they allege, certain stipulations and conditions of the respective policies have not been observed on the part of the insured, although they concede that all other provisions have been complied with to entitle the insured to recover.
