BEAM, Circuit Judge.
Dennis Skillicorn was convicted in Missouri state court of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. The district court 1 denied Skillicorn’s petition for habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254, but granted a certificate of appealability on eight issues. We affirm the district court.
I. BACKGROUND
