This case, which involves an investigatory traffic stop and the subsequent criminal trial, presents three issues. First, we determine whether the law enforcement officers who conducted the traffic stop had reasonable suspicion to justify their detention of defendant. Next, we resolve whether the trial court committed plain error in its instructions to the jury regarding the purposes for which they could consider defendant’s prior convictions.
