Dorothy West was seriously injured and rendered incompetent as the result of a collision between an automobile she was driving and one operated by a police *472officer, who was killed in the accident. Her husband, as guardian ad litem, brought suit in her behalf against defendant, the officer’s employer, to recover damages for the injuries she sustained, and in addition he sought redress for himself, alleging permanent loss of his wife’s services and of non-economic aspects of the marriage relationship usually referred to as “consortium.” The jury returned a verdict for plaintiffs, awarding…
