OPINION

STEWART, Judge.

The superior court and the district court revoked Victor Z. Powell's probation because Powell wrote three letters from prison about his upcoming release to a Juneau halfway house. The superior court concluded that these letters contained threats to inflict phys*1188ical harm, and that Powell committed third-degree assault1 and coercion2 by sending the letters. The district court relied on the superior court's decision and also revoked Powell's probation.
