Appeal from an order of the Family Court of Sullivan County (Meddaugh, J.), entered February 9, 1994, which, inter alia, dismissed petitioner’s application, in a proceeding pursuant to Family Court Act article 6, for custody of the parties’ child.

The parties were married in 1987 and have one child, Jessica, who was born in 1988. The parties initially separated in November 1988 and respondent and Jessica relocated to the home of respondent’s mother in Connecticut.
