(after stating the facts as above). The defense relied on is in effect that appellant is a native-born citizen of the United States. Admitting that he is a person of Chinese descent, appellant testifies that he was born in 1879 in Vina, Cal.; that his father told him this, although at the age of 8 or 9 years the boy was sent to Ohio, and had never thereafter seen his father, tie sought in several ways to corroborate his testimony.
