Mr. Merrill P. Hebert, proprietor of an automobile repair shop in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, invented a tool for the removal and reinstallation of warped exhaust engine manifolds and obtained United States Patent No. 4,914,940 (the ’940 patent). While the patent application was pending he submitted his invention to the Lisle Corporation, a manufacturer of specialty automotive tools. The submission was rejected.
