This was an action by the appellee, against the appellant, to recover damages for an alleged injury to-the plaintiff, received in driving over a bridge across a certain ditch in the city, which, it was alleged, the city had negligently suffered to be and remain out of repair.

The complaint, having stated the plaintiff’s profession to-be that of a physician and surgeon,- and the injury, alleges, “that before and at that time his professional services, as a. physician and surgeon, were of the value of $500 per month,, and he was realizing and earning that sum therefrom; and by reason of the…
