COFFEY, Circuit Judge.

Petitioner-appellant Samuel Houston Coleman appeals the district court’s denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 on the ground that he failed to preserve a substantive claim of error in state court. We affirm.

After a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois, Coleman was convicted of rape and unlawful restraint, and sentenced to concurrent terms of twenty-five years imprisonment for rape and three years imprisonment for the unlawful restraint.
