This case is a sequel to Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. v. Ouimet Corp., 470 F.Supp. 945 (D.Mass.1979), aff’d, 630 F.2d 4 (1st Cir.1980), cert, denied, 450 U.S. 914,101 S.Ct. 1356, 67 L.Ed.2d 339 (1981). In that case the district court held that the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) authorizes the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) to impose liability for a pension plan termination jointly and severally on members of a commonly *1087controlled group of businesses, and not just on the member that had established and contributed to the plan.
