The J. M. James Company, a mercantile firm in Memphis, was, on the 19th clay *4of March, 1897, a customer and depositor with the defendant bank. On that dajr it drew several checks in favor of different payees on this bank, which were presented the following day for payment. When so presented payment, was refused, and their respective holders were notified of the fact. Subsequently this action of the bank was reconsidered, and the checks were recalled and paid.
