This is an action of tort for slander and false imprisonment. The case was tried to a jury who returned a verdict in favor of the defendant in error and fixed her damages at $100. The defendants below, plaintiffs in error here, have appealed and assigned numerous errors.

On January 31, 1941, Yertie Isenberg, while shopping-in defendants’ store, purchased a small head of lettuce from one of defendants’ clerks and paid the clerk therefor.
