POSNER, Circuit Judge.

The plaintiff, injured in an automobile accident, filed a diversity suit in a federal district court in Illinois against the driver of the other car and the driver’s insurer, charging negligence. After the accident but before the suit (which remains pending in the district court) was filed, the plaintiff had been convicted in a Wisconsin state court of burglary and sentenced to prison, where he remains, making it difficult for him to litigate his federal suit, especially because he has no lawyer.
