Hundreds of plaintiffs have sued three related companies—Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bayer Pharma AG and Bayer OY (“Bayer” or “Defendants”)—alleging that they were injured when Mirena, an intrauterine contraceptive device manufactured by Defendants, perforated, became embedded in or migrated from their uteruses. These diversity cases have been consolidated before this Court as part of a multi-district litigation (“MDL”).
