DEADY, Judge.

This case comes here on a writ of error to the district court for the district of Alaska, pursuant to section 7 of the act of May 17, 1884, (23 St. 24), concerning “a civil government for Alaska.” It appears from the record that on May 25, 1886, the grand jury for the district of Alaska on their oaths did present that the plaintiff in error, on January 2, 1886, did, “at the town of Sitka, within said district, sell one pint of brandy, one pint of wine, one pint of whisky, one pint of beer, contrary to the statute of the United States in such cases made and provided, and against…
