Act No. 254 of the Public Acts of 1933, as amended from time to time (Comp. Laws Supp. 1940, 1945, § 11352-1 et seq., Stat. Ann. 1947 Cum. Supp. § 22.531 et seq.), known as “the motor carrier act,” was enacted to promote safety upon and to conserve the use of the public highways in this State, and to provide for the supervision, regulation and control of the use of such highways by all vehicles operated by motor carriers of passengers and property for hire upon and over such highways.
