Ray Dansby was convicted of capital murder for the 1992 shooting of his ex-wife, Brenda Dansby, and Ronnie Kimble. A jury sentenced him to death by lethal injection on both counts. This court affirmed his conviction and sentence in Dansby v. State, 319 Ark. 506, 893 S.W.2d 331 (1995). Dansby filed a petition for postconviction relief pursuant to Ark. R. Crim. P. 37 on May 26, 1995, and an amended-petition on June 22, 1995.
