The appellant, Barbara Janelle Tigue, was convicted of first degree battery for burning the hands of her fiance’s five-year-old daughter, Tasmine Wehunt. She received a sentence of 18 years and a fine of $10,000 and appeals the judgment of conviction on grounds that the circumstances of the injury did not manifest extreme indifference to human life as required for a conviction of first degree battery.
