The fallout following the fusion of new views with the interpretation of an ancient statute generates mutations and sometimes new forms of legal right. Here we are concerned with the extent of change wrought in the Federal Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice Act 1 as a result of the reinterpretation of a related statute, commonly known as the Ku Klux Klan Act, in Griffin v.
