After a very careful examination of this case we find *310ourselves unable to concur in the result reached by the learned chancellor. The letter of September 2d, written by the agents, Marx & Bensdorf, containing the renewal receipt, simply amounted to an offer on the part of the company to renew the insurance for the ensuing six months'. This was, of course, open to the acceptance or rejection of George Richmond, the subject of the insurance. On the 18th of the same month he mailed a reply to the agents, in which he rejected the offer and returned the renewal receipt. On the next day, September…
