There is an embarrassment in determining what judgment should be given in, or disposition made of, these appeals, not by reason of any intrinsic difficulty in the questions connected with the merits of the transactions sought to be reviewed when presented in proper form, but growing out of the questionable shape in which the action of the officers named is presented for review, and also the fact which is prominent upon the record that the judgments from which these appeals are brought are, and any judgments we might give would be, utterly fruitless and incapable of execution.
