Pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 877.6, subdivision (e), 1 defendant Southern California Gas Company (SoCal) seeks a writ of mandate to compel the respondent Riverside Superior Court to vacate an order determining a settlement between the plaintiffs and several other defendants to be a “good faith” settlement within the meaning of section 877. 2 The settlement called for a payment to the plaintiff of $800,000 cash, representing the policy limits of two insurance policies, plus an assignment to plaintiffs of all the settling defendants’ rights, both in…
