Appellee, Earl L. Mason, sustained critical and permanent injuries on July 10,1948, while unloading logs on the mill yard of Farrell-Cooper Lumber Company at Brinkley, Arkansas. His claim for compensation before the Arkansas Workmen’s Compensation Commission was controverted by the lumber company and its insurance carrier, Consolidated Underwriters, on the ground that appellee was an independent contractor and not an employee of the lumber company at the time of injury.
