This case raises the question whether a judgment debt resulting from a medical malpractice action is dischargeable in bankruptcy. The Kawaauhaus maintain that it is not, because it is a “debt ... for willful and malicious injury by the debtor,” which 11 U.S.C. § 523(a)(6) exempts from discharge. The bankruptcy court agreed with the Kawaauhaus, see In re Geiger, 172 B.R. 916 (Bahkr.E.D.Mo.1994), and the district court affirmed that judgment in an unpublished opinion.
