Appellant, Paul P. Paluch, brought this action in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act1 against his employer, Erie Lackawanna Railroad Company (Railroad), to recover damages for injuries sustained in the course of his employ*998ment. The jury rendered a verdict for the appellant. Attacking the verdict, principally on the ground of its gross inadequacy, the appellant sought a new trial.
