POSNER, Chief Judge.

A small retail clothing store in Chicago declares bankruptcy. Fourteen years elapse. The bankruptcy proceeding is still going on. The debtor’s estate, a meager $113,000 to begin with, has, Bleak House fashion, been entirely consumed by the fees and expenses charged by the lawyers for the estate. (Well, not entirely; there is $3,000 left; but this tiny residue is sure to be consumed by administrative expenses.) Yet the principal lawyer, who has received $85,000, wants additional fees (really just an award of additional fees, as there are no assets left out of which to pay…
