FEINBERG, District Judge.

This is an action under 28 U.S.C. § 1338(a), alleging infringement of two patents covering carpet-seaming tapes. The first of these patents was issued to Walter J. Reinhard, a plaintiff in this action. The other plaintiff, United States Rubber Company (“U.S. Rubber”), acquired the rights to the second patent by assignment from the alleged inventor, Paul D. Wright. Defendant is Consolidated Trimming Corporation (“Consolidated”), a New York corporation, having its principal place of business in Manhattan. The litigation has spawned a number of legal and factual issues.1…
