William Alexander Edwards, domiciled in South Carolina, married Marie Carter in 1933. While this wife was living and without obtaining a divorce ^from her, he married one Wilma Farmer in 1937. These last-named parties lived together as man and wife, and to them a child, Betty Jean Edwards, was born in South Carolina. Edwards acknowledged, the child as his own and supported her from birth until August, 1941, when he, the woman and child moved from South Carolina to Newport News, Virginia, with the intention of mailing their permanent home in this State.
