The defendant appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (1) and (3),1 and assault in the third degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-61 (a) (l).2 The defendant claims that the judgment of conviction should be reversed and that he should be given a new trial because (1) the trial court improperly admitted evidence of his prior assault on the victim, (2) he was deprived of a fair trial by prosecutorial misconduct and (3) the trial court failed to maintain…
