Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, Charles Dodds, was found guilty of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1) and sentenced to a term of life imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
