This is an action on a promissory note by the First National Bank in Crestón, Iowa, against the defendant Rich Gorman. The defendant pleaded payment and settlement of the note. Trial was had to a jury. A motion for a directed verdict for plaintiff for the full amount claimed to be due was overruled and the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff in the sum of $138.72, but the court, on motion of the plaintiff, rendered judgment in its favor in the sum of $1406.81, notwithstanding the verdict of the jury, the amount of the judgment being the full amount claimed to be…
