After an unusually lengthy trial, a Superior Court jury returned a verdict in which it found that on August 14, 1975, the defendants, Ralph Byrnes, Charles Flynn, and John Ouimette, were participants in the so-called Bonded Vault robbery. Thereafter, the trial justice imposed life sentences on each defendant, and they in turn appealed.
