On November 15, 1946, Joseph H. Martin, the appellee (for convenience hereinafter referred to simply as “Martin”), caused twenty-one notes to be entered by confession in the Superior Court of New Castle County as judgments against one J. Edwin Carter and also against appellant, Star Publishing Company (designated hereafter in this opinion as “Star”). In 1949, following extensive negotiations, Martin, Star, the said J.
