Gary Weiss appeals from an order of the district court for Lancaster County, Nebraska, denying his motion for new trial following a decree dissolving his marriage to Amy Weiss, now known as Amy Svoboda, and awarding custody of the parties’ minor child to Svoboda. The principal issue on appeal is whether the district court erred in denying Weiss’ pro se motion for a continuance filed 10 days after his attorney was given leave to withdraw from the case and 16 days prior to the commencement of trial.
