OPINION

RENDELL, Circuit Judge:

This suit arises out of a head injury sustained by plaintiff Heather Hinterber- ger during a cheerleading practice in March of 2004. Hinterberger sued both Sally Loftus, the parent-volunteer coach of the Iroquois High School cheerleading squad, and the Iroquois School District, under 42 U.S.C. § 1988. The District Court granted the School District’s motion for summary judgment, and denied Lof-tus’s motion, and Loftus now appeals. For the reasons that follow, we reverse the order of the District Court.
