PHILLIPS, Circuit Judge.

Elizabeth J. Doerksen brought this action against the Insurance Company to recover upon a double indemnity provision of a policy of life insurance issued by it on the life of John A. Doerksen. The material portions of such provision read as follows:

“New York Life Insurance Company agrees to pay to Elizabeth J., wife of the Insured, Beneficiary, * * * double thc-faee of this policy upon receipt of due proof that the death of the Insured resulted directly and independently of all other causes from bodily injury effected solely through external, violent and accidental…
