The defendant was convicted by a jury of the crimes of murder, General Statutes § 53a-54a (a), and assault in the first degree, General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (1). He has appealed from the trial court’s judgment of guilty, entered pursuant to the conviction. We find error both in the trial court’s instructions to *476the jury and in the state’s failure to disclose evidence favorable to the accused.
