The State of Texas and the Texas Department of Transportation (collectively “the State”) appeal from the trial court’s award of $497,637.80, including costs, to appellees George and Patricia Delany. Appellees had originally brought an inverse condemnation action arising from the State’s removal of the highway (the “Connector Road”) connecting the north*658bound frontage road of Interstate 45 to Johnny Palmer Road.
