This is an appeal by the defendant, the town of West Hartford, from a reassessment of damages for its condemnation of land for redevelopment purposes. The plaintiffs are the Hoye family which owns the land and Henry Porter who owns a thirty-foot-wide right of way across the land. The plaintiffs applied to the Superior Court for a review of the statement of compensation in the amount of $53,300 filed by the town. The matter was referred to Hon. Raymond E. Baldwin, state referee, who held a hearing and assessed damages in the amount of $195,000 to the Hoye family and $51,800 to Porter. From the…
