WILNER, Judge.
This is a medical malpractice action arising out of the tragic death of 16-year-old Candace Dorsey. Believing that Candace’s death was precipitated by a cancerous thyroid tumor that pressed on her trachea and constricted her breathing, Candace’s parents and her estate sued respondent, Jeffrey Nold, a pediatrician who had examined Candace three days before her death, claiming that Dr. Nold was negligent in failing to diagnose the cancer, recognize the danger that it posed, and take remedial action.
