FACTUAL BACKGROUND

The present action involves a contract dispute between Trust Company Bank *22(Bank) and Tingen-Millford Drapery Company (Tingen). The plaintiff alleges in a complaint filed September 8, 1987, that defendant has failed to make payments on overdue accounts. The record shows that service was made by certified mail to Tin-gen’s business address in Raleigh, North Carolina.
