LUM, CJ.

Defendant-Appellant David Russell Ah Choy (Appellant) appeals from his convictions for attempted murder in the second degree in violation of Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) §§ 705-500 and 707-701.5(1), and robbery in the first degree in violation of HRS § 708 — 840(l)(b)(i). Appellant was sentenced to concurrent terms of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole for the attempted murder conviction and twenty years imprisonment for the robbery in the first degree conviction.
