In two related actions to recover damages for personal injuries, Stewart Schwartz, the defendant in Action No. 2, appeals from (1) an order of the Supreme Court, Rockland County (Meehan, J.), dated July 5, 1996, which, upon separate jury verdicts in favor of the plaintiff in Action No. 2 on the issues of liability and damages, denied his motion to set aside the verdicts and (2) a judgment of the same court, dated September 24, 1996, and entered in Action No. 2 which is in favor of the plaintiff and against him in the principal sum of $400,000.
