Justice CASTILLE.

This is a direct appeal from a sentence of death imposed by the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. Following a capital jury trial, which commenced on September 10, 1999, appellant was convicted of first-degree murder,1 carrying firearms on a public street,2 and possession of an instrument of crime.3 At the penalty phase, the jury found two aggravating circumstances and two mitigating circumstances.4 The jury *308found that the aggravating circumstances outweighed the mitigating circumstances, and accordingly, imposed a sentence of death for appellant’s first-degree…
